THE COMPETITION EXPLAINED.......

Combine the three and enter the #GPLTSpeedwayComp25 (Speedway knowledge is not essential} - 2025 will be the Competitions 20th year.

GP RIDERS FLYING LAP or FIM DRAW……

The qualifying practice before each Grand Prix includes the fastest lap. The winner gets first pick of starting positions; the 16th gets the last. If the fastest lap doesn't occur, the FIM conducts a draw before the Grand Prix to assign riders' 1-16 Programme Draw Numbers (PDNs).

BUILD YOUR TEAM(S)……

Select a team name and 5 numbers (1-16 inclusive). The first 4 numbers chosen will be your team; the 5th will be a Non-Scoring Number (5th NSN) and will only be used if there is a league draw. The 5 numbers selected will correspond to the riders' Programme Draw Number (PDN).

COMPETITION SCORING……

The Grand Prix scoring system awards championship points based on finishing position: 1st gets 20 points, 2nd gets 18 points, 3rd gets 16 points, 4th-14 points, 5th-12 points, down to 16th getting 1 point. The GRAND PRIX Lottery Team Speedway Competition uses the traditional scoring method: all 23 heats have riders scoring 3 points, 2 points, 1 point, or 0 points, which are added up for each rider's total. This competition does not use the 1st: 20 points, 2nd: 18 points, 3rd: 16 points system. After each GP, the points scored by your four PDN riders are combined for your team's score.

EXAMPLE - PDN Score card - GP Rd11 2021 - if you had selected PDN 2, 5, 11, and 15 your team score for GP11 is 16+9+11+3=39pts.

The 4 PDNs will be your team for all GPs during the season.

NEW FOR 2025

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports and the FIM have modified the GP racing format. The top two riders after 20 heats advance directly to the GP final. Semi-finals are replaced by last-chance qualifiers (LCQ1 & LCQ2) for riders placing 3rd to 10th after 20 heats.

LEAGUE KNOCKOUT COMP (LKC)……

At no extra cost the LKC will begin from GP2. Your team will include all your 5 PDN numbers – there WILL NOT be a NSN as per the league.

PRIZES……

Last season (2024), we had 111 teams entered (total prize money £555), and the winner received £260. Once all entries are received, I will calculate prizes for the top 5 or 6, an award for the strongest team, and the LKC winner.

THE PROMOTER, ME......

I take no payment for running this competition; it's a hobby. Every penny collected is returned as a prize. Over the past 18 years, I've collected and paid out £8,510 in prize money. See the MENU under COMPETITION HISTORY for details. Before each GP, I provide a blank PDN Heat Sheet and GP Race Card, both free and printable as programs. After each GP, I post a completed PDN Heat Sheet, Race Card, League, and LKO Update on this website. Check the MENU under 2024 DOCUMENTS for last year's files. The LEAGUE always lists all TEAM MANAGERS, their TEAM NAMES, and their chosen PDN numbers.

THE SMALL PRINT……

The entry fee for each team is £5, and registration opens on this website on Saturday, 1st March 2025. All teams must be registered and payments received by 30th April 2025 at 21:00. Payment methods include cash (local to Poole area), cheque, bank transfer, or PayPal.
